Today’s Small School’s Gem is a former Virginia Tech cornerback, Elijah Howard, who made the move to a running back/receiver last year when transferring to FCS Central Connecticut State.

Elijah Howard shows good athletic ability and schematic versatility in his new role as he continues to grow within the position.

Last year, in 11 games, Howard ran for 990 yards and 5 TD’s while adding 15 receptions for 165 yards and another score. He returned kicks as well – a valuable asset to his game and appears to be a do all player.

His breakout game was against Delaware State in a 51-44 shootout where he ran for 257 yards on 23 touches, accumulating 297 total scrimmage yards.

I’m excited to see what his role looks like in the Central Connecticut State offense in 2024.
