Ashton Jeanty has to be one of the more interesting prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft class. He is one of the most productive running backs in modern college football history. In three years at Boise State, he ran for almost 4000 yards and scored 56 touchdowns.

In recent NFL history, only two running backs have been shorter than 5’9″, heavier than 215 lbs, and run a sub 4.5 forty yard dash. Those two players, you ask? Chad Simpson (Morgan State, 2008) and MarShawn Lloyd (USC, 2024). His body build with his combined athleticism is a very rare profile trait.

Jeanty made Bruce Feldman’s Freaks List before the season started. His report was fairly detailed, hitting 22 MPH consistently in games in 2023, and squatting more than 605 lbs before his strength coaches stopped him. Jeanty is a physical freak, in just about every sense of the description.

RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State

Pros:

  • Excellent athlete. Breakaway speed in space.
  • Does a great job changing pace to throw off angles and manipulate defenders.
  • Excellent cut and change of direction ability. Can stack moves on top of each other.
  • Very good acceleration and explosive ability.
  • Has a very natural feel for the field, moves very well behind his blockers.
  • Excellent contact balance. Absorbs contact with relative ease.
  • Very good, effective receiver out of the backfield. Can stretch the field as a receiver as well.
  • Flashed the ability to make catches through contact.
  • Very capable pass protector who will get the job done.

Cons:

  • Doesn’t have a lot of pure run power for short yardage situations. Can generate it with his intensity, but doesn’t have a lot of pure power or strength.
  • Has some concentration drops as a receiver.
  • Won’t hold up very long as a pass protector, best as a chip blocker.

Projection: 1st/2nd Round

Projected Role: Immediate Starter/High End Rotation
